Hattie's mom and Nana are alike because they are both,well,thats a tough question.I can think of a thousand ways their different though.Hattie's mom,Dorothy,is pretty care free about properness that really doesn't matter where Nana would be fussing and screaming over it.Now that I think about it, I can think of a similarity between the two.It almost seems like neither of them really want to deal with Adam.I definitly ,by far like Mrs. Owen(Hattie's Mom) way better,just because she seems to actually CARE
about her family more.Nana is too worried about "the proper way" to do things, rather than caring for her family.I didn't realize it, but right there are some big differences between them.To be truthfull,there really aren't many similarities.
The carnival is very important in the story because that is the thing where most of the adventure happens.It's important to Hattie because thats where she spends almost every day of her summer.The carnival is where Adam almost DIES!To Nana, the carnival is just a dump.She calls the people who work there "circus people" and believes their like untrained wild animals, but Hattie knows better.

This book is awesome, but unbelievably sad.I can't wait to read more and find out what happens next!
I think that Hatties mom is like her mom {Hatties Nana] because like Nana it seamed that she really didnt care that much about Adam. You know, they were not that different from each other exept that Adam is Nana is Adams mother and Hatties mom is his sister.
The carnival scene when Adam snuck out with Hattie was one of the biggest part in the book. When Hattie, Liela, and Adam were stuck at the top of the ferris wheel it showed that Adam can get MAD. He is strong to because he ripped the safety bar right off the ferris wheel cart! Then he almost jumped out of the cart. I cant believe he hit Hattie, well he does have multipul personalities and I gues that was way too much for Adam.
The importance of the carnival to Hattie is that Adam cant take all of that exitment and i guess she had to learn that the hard way. Also that she souldnt have snuck out AT ALL. Adam could have gotten hurt, or worse killed at the carnival. In Adams life, well it showes that a guy like Adam shouldnt go to the carnival without a adult near buy. The carnival represented trouble to Adam, but also she thought that Hattie could not control Adam. Thay made Hattie pritty upset.

What did you think when Adam was about to jump out of the ferris wheel cart while on the very top? what did you think when Adam hit Hattie? Did that change Adam to you? Also what did you think when he was stapped a " crazy person strap"? What would you have done if you were Hattie and was seeing this happen? LET ME KNOW SOON!

When Adam hung himself, what did you think? Do you think it was all Angel Valentines fault? Do you think Adam would still be alive if she wasnt with that boy? I think he would be, but I guess he would find out sooner or later, huh? Even thought his was a sad book I loved it, did you?
I remember just days ago I said that Angel was one of my favorite characters.After Adam killed himself because of what he saw,Angel is one of my least favorite characters.I know that it wasn't her fault that Adam had to come over that particular day and see Angel with Henry but as Hattie said,Angel had violated the rules of the boarding house anyways.I myself was horrified, reading that Adam had killed himself.It's amazing what a book can do to your perspective of life.Now I sit here typing and I look at the tool bar at the top of my computer sceen and the first thing I see is some king of button or icon that looks like a yellow piece of paper with thebottom right-hand corner folded up.The first thing I think of is a corner of the universe.not the book.just what Adam had said about people being able to lift corners of the universe.I cried while reading the book.twice.not when Adam died though.i cried at the part at the funeral and when Hattie and her nana are cleaning Adams room and Hattie accidentlly rips a corner of a picture and Nana,strait out,tells her to go home.
I don't like how Angel just ran away from her fears.she didn't go to the funeral to pay her respects to Adam,she hardly came out of her room because she was afraid of what she might have to face and later on she left the boarding house even though i think she should have been kicked out because she broke a rule in the boarding house.I would have liked at the end if Hattie would have went to the bank to see Angel and stand up to her or at least talk to her about what happened.I like that Hattie wants to talk about Adam and the good thing s about him with her parents.I have many more things to say but its getting late and I don't think people want to read a page long blog so I better sign off.bye!

everyone is different and if you call someone a "freak" or any other mean names, like Nancy did, your only calling yourself a freak because it just means your not big enough to be a good person.never listen to anyone who calls you means names because if they do, they'll always be wrong.follow that advice.

i was scared to death when adam almost jumped off the top of the ferris wheel.i thought it was the end for him and possibly Hattie and Leila because I thought he might have pulled them down with him.

it didn't really surprise me when adam hit hattie.nor did it change my thoughts about him.he seemed to be scheizaphrenic and with that, it seemed that it was in his nature to go from happy and excited to scared and wild to mad and frustrated, still scared and eventually kicking and punching and screaming bloody mary(thats just an expression).I'm not sure what you mean by a "crazy person strap".
Okay, KEM, I have to say that the book made me cry, too, but seriously, your most recent blog made me cry too! It's so awesome to see you verbalize your thoughts and feelings about Angel, Adam and the book in such a real way. Good job!

I agree with you Hatties mom would just were shorts and a tee-shirt, while Nana would were a dress, gloves, hats, ect. Do you think Hatties mom had to neat when she was a little kid? Since she lived with Nana when she was little.

what i mean about a "crazy strap" is well, you know those straps they fold around the upper body so that the person could not hit or punch. Does that make sense? If not then I cant really explain it any better.
This book made me sad but I finally got what some of these people go through, and like this book it shows that some lifes do not turn out good. Even though Angel ran away and did nothing, not even apologized to the family, made me a little upset, but I hope that God will forgive her. {If this really happened.} Also i hope that she would pray to God saying she was sorry that she ran out and didnt pay her respects to Adam. If I ever had a uncle that died of a tragety, like Adam yes, I would be sad but I would know that he/she is in a happy place and does not have to suffer anymore. You know, every night I pray for all of the people who have a dissability and hope that they will be okay. If I could wish for one thing in the world it would be for all of the dissabled to walk and to do something, but most of all to be cured. If only the world could know about what all of these kids go through life could be better because people could help every day. I just hope people like Adam get through life ok.
Hattie's mother is similar to Nana because she doesn't want to really put up with Adam.Their both over protective of Hattie and can sometimes get annoyed with her. Thy are different because Hattie's mother doesn't mind Hattie spendingtime with Leila and Nana does. Nana is way more uptight than Hattie's mother is.
The carnival was very important to the story. All the little things that went on with Leila built up to something huge.I can't belive Adam almost jumped out of the ferris wheel.It scared Hattie have to death and it upset Nana at the thought that her son almost killed himself and he was going to a hospital because they thought he was crazy.It had a big impact on Adam's life because people saw him differently. He was probably known as the man who almost jumped out of the ferris wheel.
I was horrified when I found out that Adam killed himself.It was a horrible way to kill yourself.Angel appeared to be nice and caring and have feelings for AdamA couple of days ago KEM, MAR, and I were talking about what we think will happen......I said that I thought that Adam and Angel would fall in love.Apparently not. Angel should be ashamed of herself.She is half the reason Adam killed himself(I personally think there were other reasons why Adam killed himself).Somebody said that maybe Nancy and Janet will finally start to leave Adam alone, But I guess not because they never got a chance to stop because the last thing they said to him was "freak show".It just makes me so mad to think that somebody could be so mean to someone.I think that some of the reasons Adam killed himself are:how Nana and Papa treated him,how Nancy and Janet treated him, him seeing Angel with another man and how his sister and brother-in-law didn't want to put up with him.It was so sad. Hatties mother said that is was hard to love Adam.I can see how she felt that way but I mean c'mon.Personally I don't think Hattie showed much feeling when Adam hung himself.
When Adam hung himself I was astounded. I was not expecting that to happen.I think he hung himself partly because he saw Angel with another boy, I think there were other reasons.I think Adam would be alive if he hadn't seen Angel with that boy.He probably would find out later if he had heard Anggel talking about him(the boy she was with).I did love the book it was a nice story. I looked forward to reading more.It kept me very intertained.
When Adam was about to jump out of the ferris wheel I was like somebody stop him! Hattie tried to but Adam hit her which I was shocked at.I think it was one of Adam's many personalities, but it did kind of change the way I looked at him.When he was put in straight jacket type thing I was like he didn't try to kill anybody, but I guess they didn;t want him trying anything funny.If I were hattie watching all of this I would be screaming at the top of my lungs.I would be so scared.
