1. Compare the ways each of the main characters reacts to Adam when he is alive with the ways they react to his death. Why is Hattie surprised at her grandparents' grief? What ways does Hattie find to deal with Adam's death?
2. Now that you have finished, do you still like the book? What's your favorite part? What would you change about the book? Do you think it had a satisfactory ending?

Each of the main characters reacted to Adam when he was alive in many ways. Nana and Papa thought that Adam was a discreace or a embarrasment to the family. Any sign of Adams name been said Nana and Papa would just frown in sheme wich they shouldnt! Hatties mom acted the same way she didnt care about Adam because he had a dissabillity and that is wrong to ignore someone just because the way they are made, dont you think? Leila acted like Adam was not that different, but she stilll probably thought he was a little crazy at the carnival. I wouldn think Adam was crazy, but I would be a little shocked, wouldnt you? Hattie diddnt treat Adam differently at all because she knows what he is going through and she knows what it is like to be stared at. Then Everyone{ Nana, Papa, and Mom} were devistated, they always thought Adam was an embarrrasment, and it was like they really didnt care a bout him, but they never knew how much they would miss him when he is gone. Hatties suprised at her grandparent grief because it seemed to her that they didnt care about Adam and didnt love him, but I think oh what am I saying I KNOW that Nana and Papa loved their boy. They just didnt show it. Hattie just remembers the good times she had with Adam and that makes her happy also she knows that he is in a better place. Is that what you would think? Well this blog is getting pretty long, so I think I will finish up, so by!
Hattie's parents act like they don't want to deal with Adam. When he dies they are sad, but they don't show much feeling.Hattie knows, likes, and understands Adam. I was surprised at Hattie when Adam died because she didn't show very much affection or feelings. Maybe she was so shocked that she didn't know how to respond to what happened.Nana and Papa act like they don't love him and they try to make his life miserable. When he dies, they act like he was the most precious thing in the world. I think Hattie was shocked that Nana was griefstricken because she never for sure knew how Nana felt about Adam.Hattie tried to make a speech about Adam at his funeral and it probably made her feel better. I also bet that she tried to think of the good memories instead of the bad ones.
I still love the book even though it had a sad ending. It was one of my favorite books now. My favorite part was when it was fourth of July and Adam was dancing to the music. Hey kem and mms what was you favorite part, why? If I could change one thing in the would probably be that Angel would have not ran away and that Hatties parents and the whole family about what she did, and make her apologize. Then I would kick her out. I dont think the book had a bad ending for some reason I liked the ending, I mean I didnt like when Adam died, but I think it had more of a shocking ending not a satiafactory ending. If I could i would read this book again. I LOVED this book, did you?
Well, for nana, when Adam was alive, she was always yelling at him about how bad his manners were and always sending him away from everyone else because she was that embarrassed around him.Once he died Nana was really really sad and very cautious about people touching his things, like when Hattie accidentally ripped the corner of hios poster.Hattie really doesn't act much different.she was surprised at herrr parrneets because...oh!got to go to class,i'll write later
Hey guys when I said that Nana and Papa would just frown in sheme, I ment shame. Sorry!
Yes even though I have read the book, I still like it. It was a very good book, and I would definitly recommend it. It was full of feeling, adventure, and exitment.Even though it was sad that doesn't make it a bad book.My favorite part was when Adam was getting ready to jump out of the ferris wheel cart, even though it was kind of scary.I wouldn't change anything in this book because it has just the right amount of everything.i think the ending was really good, it was sad but also happy in a way.
MAR
Whenever I think about somebody dying or when somebody does die, I can't help feeling upset.I don't think I would get over it. I know that there in a better place, but I don't understnd why God would choose to have someone close to me die when they do.I know that everyone dies eventually.I have to go basketball practice I'll finish later.Bye!
kem and mms
Do you think our presentation is going to be awesome?! I think it is. So i know what i am goin to bring in, what about you?
mms and kem,
I thought it was very good that Hatie spoke at the funeral. It was good because Nancy and Janet were thear and Hattie said that some people called Adam a freak, and she was talking about them. After that I think and i hope Nancy and Janet wouldnt say or do mean stuff to people like they did to Adam. Also i think they know how much pain they caused to Adam and even Hattie. Even though Adam was dead, she still stould up for him and I think that is what a true family member would do for a loved one. Also it was kind of wierd when Adam died Hattie didnt really seem to care. It was just like, Oh Adam is dead oh well. The makes me a little upset because if she loved Adam so much then why didnt she care when he was dead? Mabey she just didnt want to think of the bad things about Adam, amd remember the good times. Even though Adams death happened a few months back, it seems like to Hattie like it was seven months ago and she is done with it. I still think she misses her uncle, but it seems like she doesnt care that much which is kind of odd. Since he was like her best friend, I would just thibk it would be hard to forget. Hattie might not want to live in grief about Adam, mabey she just wants to forget about his death, but the remember the good memories she had with Adam. Wow! I have been writing really long blogs! Well I guess it is because I have a lot of stuff on my mind about the book,
well bye!
Hattie was surprised at her parents because they were upset a bit more than they normally would have acted and at some points got very strict with her. Hattie deals with Adams death by picking out the good qualities in Adam.
Even though I'm finished reading A Corner of the Universe, I still love it and I've reccommended it to some people. My favorite part was probably when Hattie was talking at Adams funeral and listing what he had had to go through.I probably wouldn't change anything. Some people might have taken out that Adam died but I think thats what really got me into the book. The ending was a little sad but I think overall the book was awesome.

I was womdering when you first read the book did you think it was a bad book? When you read it the first time did you feel like you wanted to talk to someone? Aslo what did you think about the book? Did you like it? Why or why not?
MAR-I loved the book when I read it the first time (and I still love it), but I do think it's sad. I usually like sad books, but I was truly shocked by Adam's death. I did feel like I needed to talk to someone to express my feelings, and that's why I kept telling your group that you should come to me if you felt that you needed to debrief it with someone. I like the book because I feel that it expresses true human emotion in a way that is easy to relate to. I understood each of the characters and felt that I knew them. It was easy to cry when Adam died, because I felt like I had really lost someone who was special to me. By the way the offer to talk still stands :)
The last post I received looked like it was from MMS, but she put MAR instead? Anyway, here is what it said:
